New Faculty Join UA Family and Community Medicine and Banner – University Medicine

Family medicine physicians Nicole Person-Rennell and Sanjay Dronavalli will provide a wide array of primary care services for patients of all ages across Tucson.

Nicole Person-Rennell, MD, MPH, assistant professor, and Sanjay Dronavalli, MBBS, assistant professor, have joined the University of Arizona Department of Family and Community Medicine and Banner – University Medicine.

Dr. Person-Rennell will provide family medicine care in Tucson at the Banner – University Medicine Family Medicine Clinic at 3950 S. Country Club Road; inpatient/hospitalist care at Banner – University Medical Center South, 2800 E. Ajo Way; and maternity care, delivery and newborn care at Banner – UMC Tucson, 1501 N. Campbell Ave.

Dr. Person-Rennell's clinical and research interests include women's health, substance use disorders, intimate partner violence, care for the medically underserved, social determinants of health, and the intersection of public health and primary care, including clinical innovations for population health improvement.

Dr. Person-Rennell received her medical degree from Mayo Medical School and her master’s degree in public health from Cambridge University in England. She completed her family medicine residency training at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF).

Previously, Dr. Person-Rennell cared for urban, underserved, multicultural patients in a primary care setting at UCSF and Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital.

Dr. Dronavalli will provide family medicine care in Tucson at Banner – University Medicine North, 3838 N. Campbell Ave.

Dr. Dronavalli’s clinical and research interests include improving colonoscopy screening completion by identifying potential barriers and interventions that improve patient compliance, nutrition relating to weight loss, and addiction medicine. He speaks multiple languages: English, Telugu and French.

Dr. Dronavalli previously provided medical care to underserved, multicultural patients at the University of Kansas Medical Center and served as a preceptor for medical students. Dr. Dronavalli's volunteer activities included providing sideline care to high school sports teams and sports physicals.

Dr. Dronavalli received his MBBS degree (equivalent to a medical degree) from the Sri Ramachandra Medical College Chennai, India, and completed his family medicine residency training at the University of Kansas.
