Why did you choose South Campus FM residency? South Campus FM was a huge surprise in the best possible way. I primarily applied because of location: close to home (San Diego) and close to the border. During my interview day, I was blown away by the rich curriculum, thoughtful community programming and down-to-earth team members. There are great tracks to address various interests, great mix of inpatient/academic medicine and community care, and it seemed that this program really encourages its residents to develop as many skills as possible. Plus all of our faculty are engaging, fun and inspiring humans.
What do you love most about Tucson? I am still exploring, but I am in love with all the beautiful nature sites and hikes available in such close proximity. Also, after living in Chicago and California, really loving the all the cool (and affordable!) bars and restaurants.
Tell us about your family (including pets!): My husband and I are both from San Diego and married there in 2015. We have an 8-year-old mutt named Amber, who was a street dog in Tijuana. My mom lives here in Tucson with us, my younger sister lives in San Francisco, and my in-laws are in San Diego.
Tell us some fun facts about yourself:
1: Aside from being a reader, I’m a big Harry Potter fan. I’ve read each book about half a dozen times or more.
2: I listen to a wide variety of music, and always welcome new recommendations.
3: My favorite food is empanadas-- specifically Colombian empandas, since my family is from Colombia.
